About

An independent publication for people who run websites and businesses on emDash: what changes, what it costs, and what to do about it.

The publication

emDash Now is an independent publication about emDash, the open-source content management system released by Cloudflare. We write for people who make decisions about websites, and every piece is built to answer one question: what does this mean for my website or business, and what should I do about it?

That means we read each release as a decision rather than a changelog, and we explain technical detail only where it changes the decision. Where it matters, we test what we write about, and we say plainly when something is reported rather than tested.

Who it is for

  • People running a website that works today, who need to know whether emDash should change their plans and when to look again.
  • People commissioning something new, who are weighing emDash against the alternatives on cost, risk and readiness.
  • Agencies and consultants deciding how much to invest in emDash expertise, and when.

Independence

emDash Now is not affiliated with Cloudflare, is not sponsored by Cloudflare, and is not part of the emDash project. When the platform's interests and the reader's interests diverge, we take the reader's side. That includes naming the gaps and the risks as plainly as the strengths. The standards behind that claim, covering advertising, affiliate links, conflicts of interest and corrections, are set out in our editorial policy. The way we check our guidance is explained in how we test.

Who writes it

emDash Now is written by technology consultants and CMS experts who provide digital transformation services to numerous clients across the globe. The editorial team loves emDash and works with it daily. That work is where much of our first-hand evidence comes from, and it is also a commercial relationship, so we disclose it: when a piece draws on paid client work, or discusses a tool or service in which we hold a stake, that piece says so.

We use AI tools in research and drafting. Every piece is checked, edited and published by a human who is accountable for it.
